    My guest this segment has discovered the fountain of youth…well, maybe... Joan Bunney is a writer, professional speaker, and advocate for social change. She is author of the book, “Sexy in your 60’s”. What is so special about Joan is that while most women have reservations about revealing their age, Joan is proud of the fact that she is in her mid 60’s and has the body of a woman many years younger, perhaps in her 30’s. (Just have a look at her website and photos) She has adopted a light hearted nickname “The Sexy Crone” but her message about reversing the aging process is something she takes very seriously. She is literally walking the talk and while her book obviously shares her testamonial journey she also presents a no nonsense approach to the ability these bodies of ours have to not only last a long time but to rejuvenate themselves with the proper application of nutrition science, spirit and attitude. She’s on a mission and has been invited by PBS and other organizations to speak on emerging and ancient technologies and sciences as well as the lifestyle one may adopt that addresses the anti aging topic. Joan already has follow up books planned for when she is in her sexy 70’s , 80’s and 90’s and says she will have a book about her being a sexy centurian when that times comes which she looks forward to. Has Joan Bunney discovered the proverbial fountain of youth of myth and folklore or is there something serious to the notion that we can reverse the aging process? Joan will certainly give you something to think about as we explore the question and she shares her answers.     This segment I'll be taking a look back at where we've come from to where we are with the Light 08 experience on BTR and previewing some of the shows we have lined up for September and beyond. I often get calls and emails asking about various topics we've either discussed on past segments or suggesting things that you may want to hear me or a guest talk about. We'll open the phone lines to talk about whatever you want to discuss or have me present for discussion at a later time. I want to hear from you and what you'd like to have the "imagination at Work' do to make your time spent with "light 08" the best experience and sharing of info and/or entertainment possible. I'll also preview some material from my book I will be releasing in the fall.

Once called the man with 6 voices, he is singer/song writer with extraordinary range as well as one of the smoothest balladeers of our time. G.C. has a career that spans decades, going back to the 70's. You've heard him sing with some of the best Motown groups The Spinners, The Temptations, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas and as a successful solo artist in his own right. G.C. has written hits for many groups and is the pen or voice behind many a Motown hit, "It's a Shame", "You're all I need to get by", "It's so hard to say good bye to yesterday" and "Let me down easy" just to name a few. The man is STILL going strong as ever with his new project "Enticed Ecstasy". We'll talk about his career, his music, his music group The G.C. Well the answer is simple actually and for those who REALLY like to groove they understand why and it's this: That time represents the "REAL MUSIC music" of the genre's golden age lol! Real instruments, real bands with real players, real lyrics, REAL voices and most importantly music made from the soul with you in heart & mind. There may be some good stuff out there but WE want the FUNK as George Clinton would say, the funk and nothing else will do as the Temps would say and as I would say that's what you'll ALWAYS get here on the Soul on Saturdays...there may be pretenders but there's only ONE contender for the true soulskool old school music luvers!     Imagination at Work: The Creative Genius in our Children -Dr. Carolyn Fuentes

    This segment my special guest is Dr. Carolyn Fuentes. Dr Fuentes is a host on BTR and is a computer education teacher creating curriculum for all types of students in college, K8, community, private, and online learning games on Quia.com since 2001. We will be discussing the creative genius in our children and how to recognize and nurture it. Many of you on BTR know one of her sons, the gifted and talented jazz musician Antoine Smith, whom I've had the pleasure of interviewing in a past segment and who also has a profile on BTR. She is also an author of the book "Autism" which was an inspired research and effort in part because of her other son Aeric Smith who is 21 and a talented autistic composer and creative. Dr. Fuentes writes as both a parent and a researcher in this very up-to-date work on autism. She originally created this work to educate schools, professionals, organizations and parents on the subject, and focuses primarily on the social and medical attention that autism has received in the past 50 years. We will look at the creative child, the childhood prodigy, and autism in an informative and practical conversation. Please join me as I welcome Dr. Fuentes to the Imagination at work. If you have or know of someone with an autistic child tell them to tune into this week's program.

    It's not Saturday unless you're in the SOUL on Saturday baby! That's right, accept NO substitutes...the very BEST of the best old school soul and R&B music. Music of your time, the music that you like, the memories you still enjoy made by those artists from the heart for the soul. RICK JAMES TRIBUTE show: It's been 5 years since RJ left us and he'll always have a special place to the Soul on Saturday. There may be funky and there may be freaky but there was only ONE "Super Freak" and that is the label that will most be remembered about Slick Rick. What should not be forgotten is what a talented writer, musician, musical visionary and producer he was as well as a top tier ballad writer and singer. Rick worked with a lot of musicians and brought forth some talented musicians as well such as Teena Marie, Mary Jane Girls, Stone City Band, and Val Young. We'll listen to some Rick James songs including some of the tracks from his last project "Deeper Still" which actually released after his passing in 2007. Rick left nothing on the table when it came to living life on his own terms or in the music he produced. If you like the funk and you like RJ then you'll want to tune in and party with Slick Rick this Saturday on the Soul'.
