Soul on Saturday: SPECIAL Laying down the L.A.W. Welcome artist Lawrence Worrell

The short definition of 'Old School Soul/R&B' is really a way of saying the GOOD music from yesterday. Why don't the artist of today make that kind of music anymore? A question many fans of the genre ask especially those of us who remember when soul music was the universal sound no matter it be funk, jazz fusion, blues, even gospel. Well fear not my friends of the funk and soulful sounds I play here on the Soul'. There is a growing trend of sorts going on in the ranks of some of today's music makers getting back to the REAL. The evolution of hip hop may have been somewhat derailed for a myriad of reasons we wont go into on this show HOWEVER there IS definitely something brewing which gives reason to hope for a turnabout. I had the fortune of meeting and HEARING proof that the "SOUL AINT DEAD" and the beat is definitely going on. Introducing the artist L.A.W.(Lawrence Worrell) and his 12th Planet Project. This young man is a throwback to the FUTURE of the music we want to hear again. He is definitely hip hop but he is also a true musician in every sense of the word. He has what some call pedigree, coming from a musical family. He is a multi-talented, multi-faceted musician who plays instruments and sings as well as a truly lyrical rich rapper, writer, story teller and producer. He's candid and honest, KNOWS and loves the music and is diverse, playing everything from R&B to Country Western which he says is a style he really enjoys. He's been influenced by and has worked with some of the greatest musicians of all time including George Clinton and Lionel Richie yet he definitely has a style all his own. All I can say is what you'll say after hearing him tell his story and listening to his music and that is "MAN, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" I'll also say this, somebody on a future form of Soul on Saturday 20 or 30 years from now is gonna be playing L.A.W., I guarantee it.
