Father’s day is extremely important as it help acknowledge the contribution of fathers to individual families and to societies as large. Besides observance of Father's Day provide children an opportunity to express love and respect for their fathers. The sentiment goes a long way in strengthening father-child relationship and consequently in the emotional development of a child.

I had no clue just how rewarding being a Dad, as now a Grand-Dad (Fa Fa) to my little Aiyanna, would be.

Yes, there have been some tough days, but the push to be excellent and support my children to the best of my ability has been rewarding for me and I hope for my children.

I also realize that there are Dad's out there who are surrogates. They are the Uncles or cousins who often will step in when a father is absent. This does not necessarily mean for when a father has left the family, but rather when they just cannot be there. I think about military men. I played a surrogate role for my niece while her Dad was serving our country in Korea. I still call her my daughter to this day.

So, take a listen in and please call in with your comments on the show tomorrow at 7am. Talk to you then.
