From the halls of Congress to the chambers of our state houses, legislators are discussing the future of the American military and the resources needed to defend our nation at home and our interests abroad.

JOINING US NOW TO DISCUSS THE RESERVES’ OVERALL ROLE IS DEPUTY CHIEF OF THE ARMY RESERVE MAJOR GENERAL GLENN LESNIAK, WHO YESTERDAY ADDRESSED THE MILITARY AND VETERANS AFFAIRS TASK FORCE DURING THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF STATE LEGISLATURES.

WHAT WAS YOUR MESSAGE TO THE TASK FORCE?

WHAT ROLE DOES THE RESERVE PLAY IN OUR NATION’S SECURITY AND IN DISASTER RESPONSE?

WITH BUDGET RESTRAINTS A REALITY, JUST HOW COST EFFECTIVE ARE THE ARMY RESERVES AND WHAT POSITIVE ECONOMIC IMPACT DOES THE RESERVE HAVE ON LOCAL COMUNITIES?

WHAT DIFFERENTIATES AN ARMY RESERVE PERSON FROM THE REST OF THE POPULATION?

HOW WOULD YOU SUGGEST WE LEARN MORE ABOUT THE ARMY RESERVES?

The U.S. Army Reserve and its contribution to our nation can hardly be understated.  But does anyone really know the true extent of the roles carried out by these brave men and women?  As the threat of domestic terrorism grows, it is the Army Reserve that helps to provide an unflinching presence in our national security.  When natural disasters hit communities both within our borders and worldwide, the Army Reserve can respond with supplies and aid.

Major General Glenn Lesniak, Deputy Chief of the Army Reserve, discusses the role of the Army Reserve, key issues facing the future of our nation’s military, and what this may mean for states that have a major military presence. Major General Glenn J. Lesniak assumed the position as the Deputy Chief of the Army Reserve at the Pentagon in October 2014 and has served for more than 38 years.
