Pulmonary fibrosis can occur when lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred. For some types of pulmonary fibrosis, a cause can be determined – but not for people who have what’s known as “idiopathic” pulmonary fibrosis, or of unknown cause. IPF is a progressive and irreversible lung disease[iii] that makes it difficult to breathe and even complete everyday tasks.[iv] The incidence of IPF is greater than that of ovarian cancer, similar to those of pancreatic cancer and of all leukemias combined, and nearly 30 times that of cystic fibrosis.[v]

  • Bob is a retiree and active family man who has a positive outlook on life. He can only physically exert himself for about 15 or 20 minutes before he needs use an oxygen tank – but he still tries to enjoy yard work or play the occasional golf game, rather than miss out on opportunities to enjoy his life.
