What Do We Owe Our Veterans?

On Wednesday, the GOP blocked a jobs bill that would fund training of our military veterans. The bill would train our veterans as police officers, fire fighters and other agricultural positions. The Bill was defeated with a 58-40 vote, falling 2 votes short of the amount needed to pass the bill.

 

As we look at the intent of this bill, it is intended to help our veterans transition from fighting our enemies abroad, by taking that same skill set and drive to serve our country and utilizing it at home. You would think that common sense would prevail. We should never look at people as simply commodities, but just for the sake of this discussion, lets look at our military veterans as assets.
