In our society today one of the most "exciting" debates is the legalization of drugs. Most of the time that conversation is centered around the consumer side of the equation. Should marijuana be legal? Is really where it starts and stops. The legalization of anything stronger doesn't get nearly as much attention. Although we will discuss the users, we are also going to talk about the business of drugs. Since the announcement of the "war of drugs" back on the eighties it has largely translated into the war on black and brown people. The mandatory minimums for low level dealers and crack addicts have whole communities decimated all across the country. But lets go even deeper than that. The outsourcing of low skilled labor jobs and the diminished emphasis on education and vocational training have had a huge impact as well on the proliferation of this industry on lower income communities. Check out the blog by our shows host, Miguel Lloyd on this subject. http://www.facebook.com/notes/life-full-circle/is-there-any-sane-reasons-for-legalizing-drugs/197401043626044 Join us this Wednesday for this invigorating conversation! Of course Elton Gumbel will have sports, Keith Reed will talk finances and Kia will have the hot topics. I'm sure Chris Brown and his GMA outburst will come up in that segment. Phone lines will be open we are looking to hear from you! (310) 807-5094
