Join Zhena for a cup of Earl Greater Grey as she discusses highly effective, educational programs that have been created worldwide for vulnerable women and children with the president of Lotus Outreach, Patty Waltcher.

Lotus Outreach is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the education, health and safety of vulnerable women and children in the developing world.

Originally established to support refugee education, Lotus Outreach now also helps rehabilitate survivors of human trafficking and keep at-risk students in school. They support this mission through effective grassroots projects, particularly among the rural poor.

Patty's passion for Lotus Outreach was ignited nine years ago when she discovered the organization was successfully meeting needs in the developing world that were both prevalent and overlooked. A 30-year student of meditation and Tibetan Buddhism, Patty felt it was crucial to dedicate herself to activities that would have practical benefit for suffering human beings. Patty has a master's degree in Buddhist Studies and has taught meditation and awareness for 25 years.

Patty has traveled extensively throughout India, and in 2010 visited LO’s projects there which furthered her commitment to the cause. She was elected president of Lotus Outreach in January 2011.
