Liberty Cap Talk Live

I'm Todd Andrew Barnett, the host of Liberty Cap Talk Live with Todd Andrew Barnett & James Landrith, Jr., and so is my wonderful friend and co-host James Landrith, Jr. I'm from Michigan, and he's from Virginia as well. This is the official page of LCTL. We both host a political talk show (a free marketeer talk radio show) for pro-liberty advocates, free marketers, anarcho-capitalists, etc. who want to hear the message of liberty. It's also for those who have never been exposed to the message of liberty. Liberty Cap Talk Live, as it is on Blog Talk Radio, has now been rebooted and is now a new show on BTR, focusing more on the philosophy of Liberty and the political current events of the U.S. and the world and less on entertainment and culture, although it also focuses on society's behavior due to government intervention. Beginning August 7, LCTL launches its first season here on BTR featuring new panelists, guest interviews, and news articles as well with each episode being two hours in length. This show is a 28-episode run, with the goal of freeing the listeners from the control of the Republicans and Democrats and the state and fighting them tooth and nail every day, all time, no excuses!

Apology To My Listeners Regarding Last Night's Technical Difficulties on LCTL

    Hello Liberty Cap Talkers!!

I feel that I have a duty and obligation to express my sincere apology to all my listeners who were listening to the first 7 to 8 minutes of Episode 20 of Liberty Cap Talk Live. The show experienced a series of technical difficulties that entailed a loud, blaring buzzing noise that made it impossible for anyone to hear my voice last night. The show's Star Wars/pro-freedom music queue, which is set on automatic, can be heard on the podcast, but all you can mainly hear is that noise which overpowered that portion of the show as well as the voices on the air. This means that approximately 7 minutes of the show was nothing but a loud noise which resulted in some complaints from the chat users.

I have no idea what or why it happened, but I can tell you this: it turns out my Skype chat interface with BTR's host phone was not working properly; hence, a bad connection. That's why it sounded static for the length of time up until around 8 minutes into the show. The show's first guest panelist George Phillies called me last night when that insanity was going on, and fortunately the show didn't pick up on that, so my voice was never recorded on that end.

Approximately five minutes before the show started, I opened up the phone lines and Jim Davidson was on the air, typing on his computer in the background. I said on my headset, "Jim? Jim? Are you there?" He wouldn't answer. I started thinking that BTR might be having a problem with its phone line system, and I hoped that wasn't the case. At that point, I should have cut off my connection to the phone line and called back in, but I thought maybe it would work itself out.

Once the show started, the music came on and after it did, I did my opening spiel, which never got recorded on the podcast. Some of the callers on the line were going on and off hearing the noise, but the odd thing is I couldn't hear that loud, blaring, static on my end, although the callers on the line and the chat users could. I didn't know what was going on, but it wasn't until after 7 minutes that I thought, "Maybe it's my connection. I'll cut it off and then call back in." I did, and the next thing I know, I said, "Can anybody hear me?" George and Jim Davidson both said in unison, "Yes!" I immediately learned that it was my connection to Skype was the problem.

I don't know what happened, but I did contact Blog Talk Radio, and I asked whether other show hosts were having similar problems. I was told that no such problems were reported, but they did notice a loud noise on my end. I explained to them what happened, but I don't understand what could cause Skype to malfunction when it connected to BTR's phone line. That's a question mark for me.

Anyway, it turns out the problem was fixed for the most part, and anyone who wants to listen to the podcast should move it up to about 7:45 into the show which will show that I called back into the show and the show finally started from there on.

Once again, my apology to those who heard last night's show when that happened. There's nothing I can do to clean up that podcast (the first few minutes of it), but the show can be heard in its entirety. It recorded very well as far as I can tell.

I hope it doesn't happen again. In order to do that, I will have to institute a new policy, which mandates my Skype connection to BTR (or a co-host's connection to BTR via Skype) for an audio/caller check. I'd like the users to come in early so that we can test to see if everyone can hear the host's voice and see if everything checks out. This policy is effective immediately.

Once again (one more time), my apology to everyone for that, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the podcast, which was excellent and highly entertaining.

Wear your liberty caps, and fight the state tooth and nail, all the time, every day, no excuses!!

    Yours in Liberty,

    Todd Andrew Barnett

Liberty Cap Talk Live Returns This Friday, January 22, 2010

Hello Liberty Cap Talkers Out There!!

Happy New Year! (I know, I know, it's belated, but big deal! I don't have a penchant for doing things on time. You shouldk now that!)

With us living in the land of 2010, it's time to bring our liberty caps back to the radio and start wearing them here on BlogTalkRadio.com. Liberty Cap Talk Live is back in action, and I'm pleased to say that it is better than ever, and I'm glad we're back on the air. Jim and I have come back with fresher, better ideas and new ways to approach the issues, and that's the direction we're going. Remember, it's time to wear your liberty caps. We are freeing ourselves from the state. We're fighting the Republicans and Democrats tooth and nail, all the time, every day and week, NO EXCUSES!

This week on the 18th episode, we have Jason Osborne returning for a 3rd time here on the show, but newcomers AJ Arias of Students for Liberty and fellow liberty activist Steve Linnabury will be with us to talk about Ron Paul urging his supporters to support a neocon candidate named Lamar Smith, John Bush interviewing Ron Paul on the matter (who interestingly admits it and urges his supporters to lend their hand to Smith, and the rift between the non-Paul supporters and the Paul supporters. We'll go into some personal attacks aimed at me, and we'll listen on the show what the attacks are and the moitivations behind them.

Also Brad Spangler will stop by and give his thoughts on the issue and stick us with a great segment on the topics listed.

So if you want good show on Friday night @ 11 p.m. EST, please don't miss it. You'll love it. I know you will.

Well, that's it guys. Information will be sent out to the guests, so tune in.on that night.

    Thanks!

    Yours in Liberty,

    Todd Andrew Barnett

Liberty Cap Talk Live on Hiatus for the Holidays

My Fellow LCTL Listeners and Chatters:

Yes, that's you. The ones who listen to the show on a weekly basis. You probably have noticed that there hasn't been a new episode this week. That's because the show is now on hiatus for the remainder of the entire month and through January 15. That's right. The break, which began immediately on December 18, was announced on the last episode of the show for the month. Initially, I was going to bring the show back on January 8, but I felt that was a bit too early. (Plus, I need the extra week off because of school work and all.)

I just wanted to let everyone know that the show is scheduled to return on January 15, bigger and brighter, and that gives us time to energize our creative juices to plot the remainder of the season. There are only 11 episodes left to broadcast and podcast for later archives, so we want to make the best of it. Jim and I have in plenty in store for the show.

If you want to help out with the show, please go to the show's profile page and donate money to show for a one-time donation fee of any amount you wish. There's a PayPal donation button on the bottom of the show profile page on BlogTalkRadio.com's website, and it can be found at the end of the bottom under "LCTL LAMPlifier Plans." Click on that, and it will take you to the PayPal section, and make your one-time payment. It's quick, easy, and painless too, so please donate to the cause of Liberty as well as the show. This allows us to set up a web page so that we can create and host our show files, archives, show commentary, forums, etc. Do that, and we can move around from using the BlogTalkRadio.com profile page, which limits us to do what we want to do with the show and the stuff we want to post on their server. If you're someone who wants to put on his "liberty cap" and fight the Democrats, Republicans, and the statists in charge tooth and nail, all the time, all day, no excuses, then a donation will help us onto that path. Would you at least please do that? I hate to come off as desperate, but it would be appreciated if you could.

Also, we offer the LCTL LAMPlifier Plans, which are modeled after Free Talk Live's AMPLifier program. It's a subscription-based monthly payment system in which you voluntarily donate money out of a fixed amount of your choice. You can give as little as $3 a month. If you do that, then the perks will eventually role on in. One obvious perk is a new website (which I mentioned above), and we can do a lot more with the show by doing that than we would without the funds. Or you can donate as much as $25 a month. If you choose not to, that's cool. The podcasts are available to people free of charge, but we do encourage you to donate as much as possible. This way we're not requiring you to pay in order to have access to the files, but it is encouraged and appreciated that you do exactly that.

Other than that, I want to thank you for listening to the show. If you're a registered user of BTR (whether a host or a listener), you can have access to the show archives anytime you want on the site's server. However, if you don't the files are made available to those who choose not to register with BTR, although the accessibility of all the episodes made so far need to be updated ASAP. (I'll do my best to accomplish that this weekend.)

On that note, please enjoy the holidays, and I hope you had a Merry Christmas. Now I hope you have a Happy New Year.

Until then, wear your liberty caps.....

    Yours in Liberty,

    Todd Andrew Barnett

    LCTL Goes On Two-Week Break

Dear Listeners of Liberty Cap Talk Live:

Due to the inability of finding new guests for this week's show and my crazy school schedule which has been taking up my time, I am putting the show on a two-week break. There will be no show for this week. Don't worry; the show isn't on indefinite hiatus, but the episodes need to spread out for a bit. I didn't plan on doing this originally, as I originally planned to give me and Jim a week off. However, due to the lack of finding a fresh crop of guest panelists for this week (with the exception of finding a new guest to interview for 30-60 minutes), I don't have time to do a well-rounded show for this week.

The show will come back on October 9, so check the schedule, ok? More new guests will be on the show, so please keep yourself tuned in. For now, a repeat episode of the show on Friday night will be set on manual rebroadcast mode for those who haven't listened to the show.

Thank you very much, and continue to listen to the show.

    Yours in Liberty,

    Todd Andrew Barnett

[*Note: Jim head hosted this show, as I took a break for the week to throw in some support and encouragement and provide some mini-commentaries while Jim was doing the show. Also, Aaron was on the show until around 12:30, so why he didn't call back in remains a mystery. Other than that, the show went very well. Excellent job, Jim!]

Original Air Date: 10/16/2009

11:00 PM

Episode 9: A 40-Minute Interview with Catherine Bleish, Don't Ask/Don't Tell, Etc.

[Note: The show overall, while a tad bit tired tonight, went very well. The guest panel did a great job, including Tracy Ward. Catherine Bleish is a delight to have as always, considering she did a great job on the air. Allison Gibbs was not able to make it in this episode due to a "family emergency."]

Original Air Date: 10/9/2009

11:00 PM

Episode 8: Obama Building Up Support for Public Option, Michael Moore Attacks Capitalism, Etc.

Todd, Jim, and their guest panelists radical anti-state/anarchist Jason Jewell and Peace, Freedom, and Prosperity Movement Radio, TV, and blogger Michael Shanklin discussed Obama building up pro-public option coalition, Michael Moore's new film Capitalism; A Love Story (which is an assault on laissez-faire capitalism because it conflates that kind of capitalism with economic fascism), Hollywood director Roman Polanski being arrested in Switzerland because he fled the U.S. over 30 years on a teen rape case, Obama's failed attempt to pitch the Olympics to Chicago, Facebook teen being outed as the one behind poll whether Obama should be assassinated and was approached by the Secret Service, the departure of Obama's national deputy security advisor, Janeane Garofolo calling 9/12 activists and Tea Baggers "racists" on last week's Real Time with Bill Maher and Fox News' Fox & Friends' response to her comments, and the feds encouraging children and people to get the H1N1 vaccinations.

[*Note: Michelle Luetge, the former Secretary of the Boston Tea Party who was originally scheduled to come on the show, didn't show up; something must have happened so I will eventually find out what happened to her. Also, I was disconnected from the show for several minutes because I was trying to contact Michelle (which can be heard at one point during the show) and, although I thought I was cutting off my call to her, I accidentally cut both my call to her and my connection to the show. Fortunately, I called back in without anyone noticing until I mentioned it.]

Original Air Date: 9/18/2009

11:00 PM

[*Note: David Nolan's interview, which was originally set for 30 minutes, went on for almost an hour because of the comments, questions, and additional thoughts he had. The panelists, including Don Meinshausen, were great guests as well. An extended edition of the show is also featured on this podcast, only by an extra 15 minutes.]

Episode 6: The Eighth Anniversary of 9/11, Obama's School Speech, Etc.

Neil Schulman, and Peace, Freedom, and Prosperity TV co-host Jessica Pacholski discussed the eighth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Obama's school speech, the conservatives' reaction to Obama's speech, Obama's health care speech, the Girl Scouts of America partnering with the federal government, and Carrie Prejean suing the Miss California Pageant organization for libel, slander, and religious discrimination.

[*Note: Todd's co-host Jim Landrith wasn't on tonight due to a terrible sore throat he has, so he will not be available to do tonight's first-run broadcast. Jessica Pacholski was approximately 18 minutes late for the first hour, but that's forgivable. Also, Jakki Smith wasn't able to do the show tonight for some reason, so during the show, I asked my good friend Bean Smith to come in and cover for her. I will find out why Jakki didn't show up. Furthermore, Neil Schulman was only on from 11:00 p.m. EST to 11:43 p.m. EST for most of the first hour.]

[*Note:Walter Block is an awesome guest as usual, not to mention a big fan of the show. I'm a fan of his work as well. He's welcome to come back anytime.]

Original Air Date: 9/4/2009

11:00 PM

Episode 5: A 40-Minute Interview with Cassidy Nicosia, Cash for Clunkers, etc.

In the fifth episode, Todd and Jim and their panelists libertarian writer and commentator Brett Bittner, Peace, Freedom, and Prosperity Movement Radio and TV show host and PFP Movement founder James Cox, and PFP Movement Radio and TV co-host Mike Shanklin discussed "Cash for Clunker" participating dealerships not getting paid the rebate money that the Obama administration promised them, the "C4C" dealerships paying taxes on income for the $4500 rebates, more news on ObamaCare, and the 1776 Project.

Jim, Todd, and the panelists interviewed Cassidy Nicosia, the topless Free Stater who held her one-woman topless protest, for 40 minutes from 11:10 p.m. to 11:50 p.m. EST on what got her interested in Liberty, the reasons for the protest, her subsequent arrest, and the dropping of the impending charges against her.

[*Note: Cassidy was on the line much earlier and on top, so top kudos for her; she's welcomed back anytime. The show went very well, despite a little bit of annoying feedback on the caller line, but it wasn't that bad. Also, Mike Shanklin had to leave at around 12:27 a.m. EST, so the show continued on and did fine without him for the rest of the broadcast.]

Original Air Date: 8/28/2009

11:00 PM

Episode 4: The One-Woman Topless Protest in Keene, NH, ObamaCare, Obama and Tom Daschle, Etc.

In the fourth episode, Todd, Jim, and their panelists Liberty Cafe Show host Nancy Robbins, Liberty Cafe Show guest co-host and former Iraq veteran Casey J Porter, and anarchist BlogOfBile.com blogger Bile discussed Free Stater and civil disobedience activst Cassidy Nicosia's one-woman topless protest in Keene, NH and ongoing ObamaCare issue, Obama's private meeting with former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) on the public option, limousine leftists not happy with the state of Obama's public option, Daschle outed as the man behind the cooperatives idea, the death of "Liberal Lion" Ted Kennedy, his illness and his involvement in the health care mess and his call for the Massachusetts Senate to change the law that he authored and helped pass in 2004 and that prohibits interim Senate appointmnents, and the federal government's plan for a "Cash for Appliances" program after the end of the "Cash for Clunkers" program.

Note: Cassidy Nicosia, who was supposed to appear on the show tonight for a 30-minute interview, never showed up; either she got about it, something came up, or she just didn't want to bother doing it. Whatever the case may be, I'm not going to have her on the show in the future for standing me up.

Original Air Date: 8/21/2009

11:00 PM

Episode 3: The Flatlining of ObamaCare, Cooperatives, Barney Frank, Cash for Clunkers, Etc.

In the third episode, Todd, Jim, and their panelists pro-Liberty musician, commentator, and YouTube personality Hannah Hoffman, Republican Liberty Caucus National Treasurer Bill Westmiller, and Libertarian Party member, activist, producer and host of "Capitol Outsider," and immediate past Libertarian Party of New York Chair Eric Sundwall discussed for 116 minutes the flatlining of ObamaCare, the Democrats and Republicans' consideration of government-subsidized and government-managed "health cooperatives," Congressman Barney Frank attacking a townhall resident because of her comment saying that Obama's "public option" is a "Nazi policy," auto dealerships dumping the federal "Cash for Clunkers" program because the government hasn't paid them, the State of New York considering cell phone bans, and the Boston Tea Party's new Resource-Based Economy Caucus.

Liberty Cap Talk Live Freedom Reporter Darryl W. Perry came on at 12:10 p.m. EST and remained on with us until 12:56 a.m. EST to report on the Ron Paul's barbecue birthday bash that he recently attended with fellow pro-Liberty activist Bonita Honhurst and discussed the following above-mentioned topics with us, including the Resource-Based Economy Caucus.

[*Note:Jim came on about 20 minutes late, which is no big deal. The show was excellent and everything went very well on the air. A brief commentary was added at the end of the show.]

Original Air Date: 8/20/2009

2:00 PM

Special Episode: A 30-Minute Interview with Shikha Dalmia

In this special episode of LCTL, Todd interviewed Reason Magazine writer and columnist and Reason Foundation senior analyst Shikha Dalmia for a 30-minute interview on her Reason piece "The Myth of Free Market Health Care in America," her thoughts on the town hall meetings ruckuses, and the Democrats' consideration of government health cooperatives.

[*Note: Shikha was a few minutes late, so out of respect for her, I extended the show about 11 minutes over the time it was supposed to end. As I said on this broadcast of this special episode, I will be doing periodic special episodes that are actually interviews with certain libertarian and pro-free market individuals who are well prominent and known in the Liberty movement.]

Original Air Date: 8/14/2009

11:00 PM

Episode 2: ObamaCare/Town Hall Meetings, Will Kostric on MSNBC's Hardball, AARP, Etc.

In the second episode, Todd and Jim and their guest panelists Libertarian Party activist and Independent Political Report blogger Paulie Cannoli, libertarian writer, activist, and freelance social media consultant Mariana Evica, and Free Stater and pro-Liberty marijuana activist Andrew Carroll discussed the town hall meetings on ObamaCare in New Hampshire and across the country, Free Stater Will Kostric being attacked by Chris Matthews and MSNBC for his "open carry" gun at the Portsmouth, NH town hall meeting on the health care issue, AARP not being on board with ObamaCare, Democrats' claim that calling them "socialists" is the equivalent to the "N word," the financially and morally bankrupt "Cash for Clunkers" program, etc.

LiberaLaw blogger and law professor Gary Chartier was on for a half hour discussing the health care issue and the town hall meetings.

[*NOTE:Paulie Cannoli was able to do only part of the show because he was a on greyhound bus, and I had to mute his mike because of the background noise. Not only that, his cell phone cut out twice. Reason writers Shikha Dalmia and David Harsanyi were tentatively scheduled for tonight's show, but it wasn't impossible for them due to scheduling conflicts.]

Original Air Date: 8/8/2009

12:00 AM

Episode 1: Pilot - Democrats Accusing People of Being "Angry Mobs," Cash for Clunkers,

Here is the pilot and premiere of Liberty Cap Talk Live with Todd Andrew Barnett & James Landrith, Jr.

In the first episode, Todd and Jim welcomed everybody back to their newly-rebooted regular show, now that it's on Blog Talk Radio.

Todd and Jim and their two panelists Jessica Pacholski and Mike Seebeck discussed for almost 2 hours on the "Cash for Clunkers" program and the critics of the boondoggle, Keene, New Hampshire's Free Staters discussing a possible topless women protest and the criticism and sexism aimed at the talks, Obama's flag@whitehouse.gov plan, etc.

[*Note: Walter Block was not able to do the premiere episode due to BTR's time zone technical difficulties, which shifted the time of the episode from 11 p.m. EST to 12 a.m. EST for Saturday, August 8, 2009. He will be on with for Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 2 p.m. EST for an hour. Look out for that episode. Jessica Pacholski and Mike Seebeck were added to tonight's show on the spur of the moment. Also some feedback was coming from Jim's cell phone and headset, which can be adjusted with any problems whatsoever. Todd was not able to do any commentary tonight, but will start on next week's show.]
