Lifestyle Coach Cathi Curen began her journal practice in 1983. Writing she says, helps us to uncover our belief systems as we continue to learn who we are and what we are becoming. Cathi suggests that when we write what we feel is wrong, we can take more responsibility for ourselves and learn to stop living the fables we have often been told, or that we’ve created for ourselves.
As you may already know, these stories are played out in our relationships. Similarly, when we discover we are in relationships that are irreparable, it is natural to want to break up. On the other hand, good relationships require a time commitment to get to know and understand one other. Yet, the most important relationship we will ever have is often neglected – the one with ourself. Journaling creates the time and space for us to have a deep conversation with our unconscious and to develop a healthy sense of self that radiates out to all of our other relationships, most importantly, those with our children. Journaling is a great way to rediscover our “true self” and can lead us to profound clarity and personal insights.
