Mike has a BA from California State University at Long Beach.  He has a Lifetime Standard teaching credential in secondary education as well as a Community College credential.

He retired in December of 2004 from the Westminster Police Department after thirty-four years of service. While at the PD he worked in a variety of positions, school resource officer, Metro detective, Chief's administrative aide, but for most of his tenure he was as a senior robbery/homicide, & predator crimes detective. Mike began working stalkers in June of 1991 where he and his partner caught the first stalking case in Orange County, and arguably only the second in the nation. From there he developed a stalking protocol that is being utilized by law enforcement both in the United States and abroad. Once the protocol was developed he began teaching for the California District Attorneys association and elsewhere.

He assisted in the writing of the brief for the first civil stalking tort case in both California and elsewhere. Mike is a consultant for the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) out of Washington D.C. He has and continues to conduct training both in the United States and elsewhere.

He regularly consults for radio, television such as the ID & Discovery Channel, as well as E! Hollywood along with the print media most recently The Economist. He has appeared on 20/20, America's Most Wanted, Case Closed, CNN, Fox, Unsolved Mysteries , Japanese and South Korean news programs along with a variety of other venues.
