Great show. History of Rock and Roll songs and artists. All original songs, no enhanced or updated versions. Very rare songs and hard to get information. Keep up the good works Lee.

Lee Douglas

Oldtime Rock n Roll has become the largest and most popular Oldies show internationally. Listeners from as far away as Australia tune in every week to hear the hits, the remembrances and some of the more obscure and largely forgotten songs of the 50's and 60's.The cornerstone of the show is Lee still takes requests and dedications from his listeners and challenges listeners to request a song he does not have. Lee Douglas is a veteran of TV and Internet radio. He has been doing television since 1980 when he produced a live local children's television show for 5 years. He has been in Internet radio since 2001 when he began Wrestling Wrap a weekly live talk show. The Wrap is still going strong after 7 years but is now heard monthly. His main show Oldtime Rock n Roll is one of the most popular oldies show world-wide. His oldies shows which are actually only one of the few legal music shows being duly licensed by BMI and ASCAP.He researches each artist and calls on his memories to build a picture of the bygone days of rock n roll, when as he puts it, the biggest problem we had was getting a date for Saturday night.

Why I decided to leave blogtalk radio

I gave much thought to this.
Blogtalk radio is a big project and they seem to have decided that the big names are more important than us little guys. It is like pulling teeth to get a blurb in the happening section.
I stopped trying. I  have been the leader in oldies music on the web for more than two years. Since I came over to blogtalk my downloads have suffered to about 20% of my former network. I smartly left a few old shows on the old network as a test, while telling all my listeners about the change, To my surprise to this date I get ten times the number of downloads on these old shows than all the ones I put up over the last 8 months. I also found out that BTR does not pay for downloads. So why should I bother? ANSWER : Not anymore.
Goodbye Blogtalk good luck . I'm going back home.

    So long Blog Talk

I have been in this podcasting business for the last five years, The last three with Oldtime Rock n Roll. The hardest part is monetizing. But I know what the going rate is and I certainly cannot make any money on what appears to be being paid for live listeners only. My show corries with  a heavy price tag since I am a licensed music show. I actually can't afford to stay around too much longer. A few weeks ago I wrote to the blogtalk contact people to find out why the payments were so small. There has been no response except that I now cannot even access my money statistics.
Blogtalk is too heavy with names and very little about us little people. No sour grapes here, more power to them and Blogtalk. But as for me just give me my few measly dollars and lets say bye bye.

    This is the MIlestone Month

After the bombshell of our former host back in May, I thought this milestone would never take place. But here we are The 200th show and the beginning of the third year of Oldtime Rock n Roll.
Yet here we are . I worked this out over the weekend multiplying the average number of downloads per month times 24 months we have a total of over 500,000 listens and downloads. I consider that an incredible feat. I thank you, the listeners for all your support.
I have plans in the works for many new shows and interviews. My Big Milestone show will be on Saturday Oct 4th. I have a great many special requests and songs. I urge any of you that have a special song you want to hear to e mail me ASAP so I can include your request in the show. This way I will know whether to expand to 2 hours or leave it at 90 minutes.
Again thanks for your continued support and downloading.

Oldtime Rock n Roll Rocks on

Another month is about to end. Old time Rock n Roll is regaining much of it's audience. The fools over at "Talkshoe" have lost a big part of their team. Now my task is to find and bring back the 25,000 monthly listeners to our new home at Blogtalkradio.
I have set out a massive ad campaign to attract new and forner listeners. This has been a long and difficult journey. It was like working for a month and then being told by your employer he wasn't going to pay you for the month you worked! That by the way is exactly what happened.
Working as hard as I do to keep oldtime rock n roll fresh is not easy but with a library busting out of over 40,000 songs, it was a big shock. One I am not yet over. I have only to look at my checkbook.
I promise my listeners. I will continue to strive for excellence in my shows and to keep them up to date. As always I answer every single e mail within three hours. There are two exceptions: 1) If I am out of computer communication range. 2) Any help me I am from Africa I have 25 million dollars to share with you e mails. (I get 100 a week)
This week we have the pleasure to interview Rockabilly legend Huelyn Duvall.
He joins a growing list of former stars like Charlie Gracie, The Elegants and Arlene Smith of the Chantells.
Look for new blog posts every week from now on.
    Thanks for listening

State of the Rock : July

Well here we are in month two with BTR. Our listeners are still lurking at the other sites. In fact without any fanfare 24,000 listeners went  to another site and downloaded our shows. I am trying to bring them into BTR now.
This has not been an easy transition. I have some special interviews lined up, but I am waiting until all or most of our listeners are here.

Another hurdle I need to overcome is how to separate the four shows I do. Since on BTR they are all lumped together under my profile.

I will be producing two new shows a week and try to sneak in some of the best of the 145 shows in my archives, which will never make it to BTR. Also we are going to be part of a college course in Pennsylvania within the next few weeks. I get to go back to teaching.....  Right here on BTR. should be fun. I will add another post as soon as the dates are set.

    The State of the Rock

Well Here we are. The first Blog on Blogtalkradio.
It has been almost a month since Talkshoe unceremoniously stopped paying  their hosts. Those with any integrity have left. Now we start a new chapter in the saga of Oldtime Rock n Roll. Our one bad point is that on Blogtalk we cannot archive the 145 shows already done. I am still looking for a paying network that can handle these. In the meantime we have an organization in Blogtalkradio that offers everything I have been looking for in a live host. So here we will stay.
Plans were on hold shortly, but I now have a renewed vigor to tackle the remaindder of 2008.
I have yet to put up new Remember When Radio segments or Only One Man's Opinion. Our first Wrestling Wrap show will be Monday evening June 30th
at 9 PM. I am hoping for a big turnout.   We will update this blog as soon as we have more information.
