After highlighting other successful role models Sergio makes a pause to share with us, the latest on his ongoing struggle to become a California licensed attorney. Sergio graduated law school on May 9, 2009 and passed the California bar on his first attempt that same year. However, due to his lack of immigration status he has been unable to practice law. He now awaits for the California Supreme Court to rule and what is set to be a historic landmark decision.
In spite of his struggles Sergio has not sat idly while waiting, he has traveled extensively throughout the nation motivating our youth and forging strong political alliances in preparation for a life in politics. He has been interviewed by the press worldwide and his interviews are now in French, English, German and Spanish. He has been a panel expert for many different organizations discussing his case and has been published by the Huffington Post, California Lawyer Magazine and Los Angeles Lawyer. Furthermore, he has become very familiar with deferred action helping many young people who qualify for the President's program even though he does not. After so much work Mr. Garcia is finally starting to reap the benefits of what he sowed and will be honored on March 7, 2013 in San Francisco for his life's work.
