All the news that's fit to blog for 6-15-09

This North Korea issue has to be addressed really fast. If they are saying that they will start producing nuclear weapons publically, then something must be done. I don't mean to start another Korean conflict. This time, we need China's help to make them understand that you do not say that. Maybe they are doing this because they have two journalist jailed there, or their President is just plain crazy.

President Obama today was speaking at the American Medical Association conference trying to get doctors on board with overhauling the health care system. People are split over this issue, but it does need to be overhauled from the bottom up. He said that "Make no mistake — the cost of our health care is a threat to our economy ... It is a ticking time bomb for the federal budget...and it is unsustainable for the United States of America."  Ticking time bomb. If I remember correctly, they tried to overhaul healthcare back in the mid-1990's and failed. Why do it now when everyone knows that the stakes are higher now because there are more baby boomers starting to retire and putting more strain on a system that already has no money (it's been broke for years). Call it anything you want if this happens, but this dirty deed needs to be done.

Speaking of the President, he was in the middle east basically on an barnstorming tour. I will give him credit for going over there and at least trying to open up a dialogue with them. Now the question becomes will it work? I honestly believe that it is a start because the hard line approach did not work. Will they answer the call? Only time will tell with that because Israel will be the key after Obama basically told them that you are on your own.

Finally.... Congress' summer recess is getting closer by the day, and I am getting more angry by the day. There is plenty of work still, but I know full well they are going to wait until the last possible moment  to get the work done. The reason; pass laws fast before anyone understands what will happen if they are passed. Your Congressman or Congresswoman has vacation on their minds, so naturally they don't care as long as it's passed. I believe that it's all up to us for that not to happen!

I am back and better than ever! Back with this weeks news and current events.

I'm back with a special wensday program with all the current events and politics of today!

General Motors made it official today by filing Bankruptcy this morning. The plan is to have them emerge in 60-90 days. That is very fast for a company the size of GM. Now that me and you (the taxpayers) own 60% of the company, what do we do with it? Their plan is to sell off some divisions and layoff 21,000 employees. Blame who you want, but there is enough blame to go around on this one. For a company who could have made the biggest, baddest cars on the planet, how the mighty have fallen.

President Obama has selected Sonia Sotomayor for the Surpreme Court. Solid pick? Depends who you talk to. Some people say that she plays the race card. Some people say that she doesn't. I just have one question: Can she do the job? The President wants to have her in place before the Congressional Summer Reccess and I do not see that happening.

The price of oil is back on the rise. As of this blog this morning, the price of an barrel of crude oil is $67.78. $4.00 a gallon again this summer? I think this time, this country will shut down because the consumer will not pay that again.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi right now is having the classic "what did you you know and when did you know it" moments with the CIA about waterboarding. Either she is not telling the truth, can' t say because it is classified, or misled by the CIA. Anyway you slice it, it has been handled poorly by everyone involed.

Finally......The GOP in Iowa campaigning? Why are they there now. We are not even into 1 year of Obama as president. That dosen't make any sense.
