What a light week for news

President Obama is here in Phoenix tonight (he must like it here) at Arizona State University, speaking at the Commencement. He can chat all he want, but there are more pressing issues for him to deal with. This week Surperme Court Justice David Souter announced that he is stepping down. The President would like to have an replacement before the Senate goes to recess in August. An very tall order because of all the in-fighting in Congress at the moment. Also today he will try to block an court order of the release of pictures of US troops abusing prisoners. Mr. President, I understand why you are trying to overturn the court order, but remember, even you are not above the law.

In other News....

The Russians want to charge up to $51 million to basically "bum a ride" to the International Space Station. They also plan to resume commercial space travel. All I can think of is they must be broke also and need the money. The EU brought the hammer down on Intel today with an $1.45 billion fine because of their sales tatacs.

Pope Benedict XVI wants a Palestinian state. All I can say is have fun fun with that problem.

Swine Flu, Swine Flu, Enough Already!

I am getting sick and tired of hearing about this Swine Flu. Remember, this happened in the 1970's. It's a stronger strain and there will be a vaccine for this soon.

On to Arlen

Mr. Specter decided to switch parties last week. He said that the Republicans went "too far to the right". I have issues with this. Even if he really thinks like this, I honestly belive that he knows that the conservatives are in no danger of having any chance at getting seats back in the House or Senate anytime soon. It might just be the only way he will get re-elected. If that's the case, that is really sad, especially after he stood there with President Obama.
