    Ramdom thinkings

    This week's random thoughts......

It's been 100 days since President Obama took office and here's what we have learned: He has a big-time mess on his hands. He is doing what he can, but is he trying to do too much? Since he has been in office, the President has tried to fix the middle east, save the auto industry from itself (which I will get more into in a moment), and given government bailouts to a lot of companies. Banks are not lending to anyone, the housing market continues to have problems, Iran and North Korea. Even gone to Venezuela to chat with Mr. Chavez. I have a word of advice for you Mr Obama: One thing at a time! I understand that you want to get the country turned around and fix the issues that are happening in the world. However, these things take time. I even said that time is the one thing you don't have, but if you make the effort to make change in a manner that everyone understands, it will work itself out. Doing too much too fast is not the answer. Wanting to do it all is fine, but you don't have to look like a beggar when you do it.

    On to the automotive mess......

Thursday is the day that Chrysler better have a plan or be in bankruptcy court. Here's my issue with this. Why is the federal government putting the gun to their head while giving General Motors all kinds of time to have a plan? It would have been better if they told both the same thing. Also they should have had a plan to turn themselves around before they will given all that money. GM is trying to unload Hummer, Saab, and Saturn, and dropping Pontiac like a hot rock. They are even looking to close 20 factories and make their dealer network smaller. Chrysler on the other hand is looking for an alliance with from Italy's Fiat for their small car technology. For GM, they have to do this to even have a chance to survive. We don't need all the workers on the street unemployed, but sometimes you do what you have to do to stay in business. Chrysler is a little bit different. They have been down this road before. This time they don't have an act of Congress to bail them out. We are just printing money to give them. I am willing to believe that Fiat wants nothing to do with Chrysler itself, they want Jeep and nothing else. For them, this sounds like what AMC did to try to stay afloat when they brought in Renault from France and was put out of business anyway.
