Menopause has a profound effect on relationships. Not only is this a time of hormonal fluctuations for the woman at the same time she is keenly aware that she is now in the second half of life and trying to figure out how she wants to spend the rest of her life. In today's show I talked about the power of relationships. Let's assume that a woman wants to start something new that may involve money or time. Her need definitely impacts on her partner and the relationship they have established. What if her partner is content with the way things are and has a hard time supporting her needs? If they can make adjustments and come up with a solution which both can accept they will grow together. If however there is no flexibility on the partners part one of two things happens: the woman will either find that she can no longer stay in the relationship or she will give up on her dreams for herself and ofter times end up resentful or depressed. Couples who rekindle their relationship find that it takes effort and adjustment on both of their parts. Menopause is on one level disruptive to relationships and on another level can be a time of laying a new foundation for living vibrantly together.
