DJ CARMIE INTERVIEWS SUCCESSFUL INDEPENDENT HIP HOP ARTIST "HELLEN CANE"

Listen as DJ Carmie interviews HipHop artist Hellen Cane, born in D.C. where her father served in the NAvy. Her parents, older brother and i resided there for a few years before relocating to San Francisco. She was a quiet child. She didn't speak much. However she was really observant. Her father was abusive and eventually her mother grew tired and left. Her father provide little to nothing to support us after she made that decision so needless to say we struggled. She was a very talented kid and even though they were going through it her escape was through the arts. She began to write music, poetry and short stories at a very young age. She won a young authors award in the 3rd grade for a children's book she wrote and illustrated. She then took to choir winning all city choir 2 years in a row and was a member of a gymnastics team as well as African drum and dance.
