State House 5 candidates Denny Coffman and Dave Bateman were supposed to square off in a one-on-one debate in an effort to highlight policy and position differences between the two legislative hopefuls, however, incumbent Rep. Denny Coffman backed out and decided not to speak to his constituency.

The event was held on Thursday, October 4, at Konawaena Elementary School Cafeteria from 7pm to 8:30pm. Former legislator Virginia Isbell was the moderator. As it was, Dave Bateman spoke on issues including cost of living, energy, agriculture, the economy and education. Questions were also taken from the audience.

Of the 90-minute forum, I have here only 35-minutes due to a major technical difficulty. The audio is low quality; for that I apologize.

The event was sponsored by the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii and the Kona Tea Party.
