    The Mark Barns Interview

About Mark Barnes Music AWAKENING WILL OPEN FANS EYES AND EARS Mark Barnes, the BaD BoY oF ChilL OuT, is set to open your third eye musically speaking. The titular track off his release The Awakening will fulfill the promise of the title, as will the rest of the CD. Barnes ambient electronica is a refreshing rush of chillout goodness, opening up amazing soundscapes that connect the ears and the minds eye with lush melodies and organic wholeness often missing from the electronic realm. Awakening is a keys based and deeply moving track. Its keyboard line and the overwhelming beauty of its background river of ambient melody make a sky full of clouds in the human heart. It equally embraces classic piano music flavors and cutting edge new age glory. Elegant and absorbing, Awakening is a sure-fire hit for the chillout scene. Barnes music has been featured in a number of magazines and web sites, including EmmeK New Age and New Sounds Magazine (Dec. 2007) and AMMA AnR (Aug. 2007). The Paul Lambert Interview

grew up in the church singing acapella music. From there I went on to sing in chorus, swing choir, and a few barber shop quartets. My parents bought me my first guitar when I was around 15. My dad showed me my first few chords and on I went from there. Once I was playing well enough to say I could play, I started writing songs. I sing lead and harmony, and this is my first rough cut demo that has ever been heard by more than just my friends and/or family. I'd have to say my best songs are ballads, but I do write some rowdy songs ocasionally. To me a good song is one that touches the heart of the listener. If I write a song that gives a listener the chills or makes them tear up, then I've written a good song.
