Today’s show was dedicated to Prairie View A&M University after their victory last night over Grambling State University in the Cotton Bowl.
Sadly no Prairie View folks showed up at Harwood 609 for the live broadcast, but Busby Sanders was here representing GSU.
Jasmine provided news, Bilal fresh back from Orlando at the Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation Conference had a fitness update and Andrew was in the house with Black College sports.
The Southern Christian Leadership Conference will elect a new president on October 29. The two contenders are Rev. Bernice King and Arkansas Judge Wendell Griffin.
Former KKDA-AM News Director Roland Martin was the first guest, talking about his new program, Washington Watch with Roland Martin on TVOne. Roland talked about the absence of African Americans on Sunday Morning News Shows. Washington Watch airs at 10a.m. and 4p.m. CST on Sundays. The Show made its debut last Sunday with Vice President Joe Biden.
Next Busby Sanders congratulated Prairie View and encouraged GSU alumni to attend the monthly meetings held at the Center for Non Profit Management on the 4th Saturdays.
I was joined by Bill Coleman of HBCU Today. HBCU is a beautiful comprehensive guide to HBCUs. You can find out more by logging on to
My next guests were Aaron Michaels, Judge Bill Mazur, Attorney Davey Lamb and Jeff Dalton, who talked about the Good Legal Clinics, which was a project of former Dallas County Justice of the Peace Cleo Steele and Mr. Dalton. The Clinics were called “Good Street Legal Clinics” but the name has been changed. The clinics are held every third Saturday at 9:30a.m. until noon. The October 17 Clinic will focus on Living Wills and Medical Powers of Attorney and will be at the Greater Providence Baptist Church, 5350 Highway 67 at Hampton Road. On October 24 the clinic, “Second Chances” will be held at the Progressive Center, 1409 South Lamar and topics include the Divert and Reentry Court and Deferred Adjudication. For more information, call 214-593-2722.
