As I take this break today, I have been thinking that I really should have taken a break on a weekend before school started back and the girls were out of town. Ruby Angela Sheffield in Miami, my college roommate sent me a text to let me know that she tried to get in and talk to me in the chatroom but to no avail. I wondered why I was talking and folks aren’t talking back. L

Joyce Ann Brown spent almost a decade in prison for a crime she didn't commit and next year a movie will be made of her life. Joyce joined me today to talk about the movie that actor Brian Dennehy will be directing, about her life. The working name of the movie is "Redemption." November 3, marks 20 years since she was released and on November 7 there will be a celebration in her honor. Mr. Dennehy is expected to be there. As the chair of her 10th anniversary celebration, I will be there also.
As we talked about the innocent being imprisoned, I had to ask the question, "what happened to James Broadnax?" He's the man who was sentenced to death for the murder of Stephen Swan and when Stephen's mother was telling how he had devastated her life, Mr. Broadnax laughed.
Next Harmona P. Epps of Grambling State Univerity, Darrell Davis of Prairie View A&M University and Lajun "Pete" Burks of Grambling joined me to talk about the HBCU Brunch on Saturday at 11am at the Hilton Lincoln Centre, 5410 LBJ Freeway. The first guest today Shawn Williams, better known as Dallas South. He's been blogging for about three years and he recently launched a non-profit news organization. Shawn said he was reading a men's health magazine about three years ago and there was a section that talked about getting your message out by starting a blog. That was then and now, three years later Dallas South is like a stealth bomber, before you know it he is on the scene and taking care of business! The grand opening for the newsroom of Dallassouthnews.org will be at Southside on Lamar on August 27, at 6p.m. Dallassouthnews.org has an intern, Michael Counter.

Eva in the blogtalkradio chatroom said that people put more emphasis on the lives of animals versus humans.
Grace said Mr. Vick has been punished enough and we need to learn to forgive and forget.
Charles Ross said the situation was overblown.
Michael (not Vick) said white people value dogs lives more.
