Reporters Roundtable with Cheryl Smith and Hill Harper

    Happy Mothers Day.

The show opened with news from Jasmine Patrick, followed by the health report from Bilal.

Today's guest was actor, author, philanthropist, activist Hill Harper from CBS' CSI-NY.  We talked about his two books-  Letters to a Young Sister (DeFINE your destiny)and Letters to a Young Brother (MANifest your destiny), his good friends President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama, Mother's Day and good food.  He referred to his book to young sisters as a "platonic hug on paper."  We also talked about the importance of social networking today and how you can "homegrow your own audience." By building your own network, you can impact the entertainment industry.
Hill talked about how Texas had a big impact on the election of Barack Obama because Republicans had to use a lot of their resources in Texas.  I recalled how my GodMother,Liz, was so excited about the election and how she was surrounded in Georgia by McCain supporters, but she remained committed to Mr. Obama.  Unfortunately she passed in December and did not get to see him sworn in. I also talked about how my mother was in the hospital on January 20 and so I called her on my cell phone so she could listen to the swearing in with me.

Two signs I saw during the inauguration were ones that read: The end of an error (referring to Bush) and Welcome Malia and Sasha (the first daughters).
Hill praised Pastor Frederick D. Haynes III of Friendship West Baptist Church and also members of Concord Baptist Church.
Joyce Ann Brown called in today. She and Hill are good friends and she is going to take him a meal to his book signing today.
Hill will be at the Legacy Books, 7300 Dallas Parkway in Plano at 3:00p.m.

We also talked about Ty Washington's (Aldridge) acting future and at the end of the show, Hill praised Ty and got him to sing on air!  He sang Happy Birthday to me, 31 days early!
