    Date / Time:

    Sunday, April 19 Show

Today's show was filled to capacity. The Show was broadcast live from South Dallas Cafe in beautiful Sunny South Dallas and opened with Jasmine giving the news update.  Dallas Weekly Managing Editor Gordon Jackson was with me again. Then Angela Hodges and Dr. Margo McClinton from Paul Quinn College's Triathlon Team talked about fundraising efforts for the school. During Memorial Day Weekend, two Paul Quinn College teams will compete by swimming, biking and running. You can donate to their cause by either going on the Paul Quinn website, www.pqc.edu, or you can mail a check to the school at 3837 Simpson Stuart Road, Dallas, TX 75241.  Next the candidates for Dallas City Council joined me for a quick discussion about their plans and why listeners should vote for them.  We began with Don Robinson and Tiffinni A. Young, who were seeking the seat currently held by Vonceil Jones Hill in District 5.  They were followed by the candidates seeking the District 7 seat currently held by Carolyn Davis spoke: Marvin Crenshaw, John Jay Myers, Don Parish and Ron Price.
David Neumann represents District 3 and Casey Thomas and Victoria Walton stated their positions on issues.
Then the candidates seeking the District 2 seat, currently held by Pauline Medrano, Gwain Wooten and William "Billy" MacLeod finished out the forum. Early Voting begins on April 27 and there will also be a forum Thursday night at Friendship West Baptist Church.
Next Wana Alwalee talked about the Youth Expo that will be held at Lincoln High School on April 25 at 4p.m.  Vendor tables are available for $50, just call 972-613-9357. The program is sponsored by DISD Board Trustee Ron Price and the Dallas Local Organizing Committee.  We also gave away tickets to the event to folks, coming to have breakfast or dinner at South Dallas Cafe.
Passes for screenings of Obsessed, Fighting and The Soloist were also available.
I shared information about the Drop Three Sizes in 10 minutes body suit that Teresa of Ntheknow.com shared with me. You can get information about the products at www.dropdown3sizes.com or call 214-274-2071.
Announcements:  The Baptist Church has funded an outreach community program to assist seniors with their expenses for burial.  To qualify you must be 55-85 years of age and you can sign up at Greater Mt. Pleasant Baptist, Freedom Baptist, Mt. Tabor Baptist, New Mt. Zion Baptist, St. Phillips Missionary Baptist and Jordan Baptist Churches.
Monday Night Politics with the Dallas Examiner will feature candidates from District 7 on Monday at 6 at the African American Museum.
Read the African American Newspapers.  Also Caprice at the Dallas Weekly said to advertise, by giving her a call.  Also call James Belt III at the Dallas Examiner and Jordan Blair at The Elite News.
I enjoyed the 80s party last night and the LL Cool J/Run DMC Look-a-Like.
I also encouraged listeners to go out and see the movie, American Violet.
There was a very informative program on Saturday, featuring Women CEOs at the 4th Annual Emerging Women Small Business Camp and I had to shout-out to organizer Terry Allen and the folks who served on the panel with me: Dawn Mann, Ester Davis, Jackie Murphy, Jill Darden and keynote speaker Joy Wallace. I gave a special shout-out to Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price who came to speak to the students in the Urban Journalism Workshop who were attending the Camp.  The Commissioner ended up speaking to the entire camp before going to a private session with the students.
