Yes we can, but will we?

Now that we have a black president, I keep hearing people all over the world making comments like “we have no excuses now”, “there is nothing we can’t do now”, or “we now have a good example of what a black family should be like”. I truly believe that by having an African American President a very positive message is presented to everyone. However, he is not Jesus and miracles won’t just happen. You must define the state of your own situation.

I encourage families to embrace the positive example we have before us and make changes within your own families. It should not take such a monumental event like this to happen for husbands and wives to be faithful in their marriages. The same goes for your children. Make them a top priority and change the future. Yes, our president and his wife are very committed to the welfare of their girls, but the dynamics of their family is what works for them. Find what works best for your family and do everything in your power to make an impact.

I talk to parents all the time about the health of their children, helping them find ways to make lifestyle changes. As we move forward into the next year, make a decision to give your family the gift of life. The health of our children is such a concern and if we don’t stand up now and make some changes, this generation will not live as long as their parents. You do have the power to make a change and as our new president so eloquently says, YES WE CAN!
