Welcome to the creative writing world of a striving author and poet who refuse to be counted out. My name is Kevin. Unlike most of the members here, I am a self-taught writer without a creative writing educational background. In addition to that, my first manuscript was hand written then years later typed. I've shared my literary collection with some professional publishers with the hopes of gaining the kind of assistance that would help me become a published author and poet. By the grace of God I was able to take a free self-publishing class at the local library offered by a established author, poet and recording artist. In addition to that, I was very blessed to meet a local author and poet, who looked over my manuscript and became my mentor in the world of writing. Lately, however, I have been feeling kind of let down by this person because he has stop the one on one teaching that kept me inspired to continue my dreams of being an accomplished author and poet. I recently posted a blog on " TPL", ( The Peoples Lounge ), reflecting on that experience. The drama of life from my personal experiences have taken me through the trials and tribulations of so much, I nearly forgot the original purpose of why God has inspired me to utilize creative writing. As a striving writer I have gone from using the computers at the library to having my personal low-grade computer which only has Windows 98 2nd Edition. I am able to re-write my work now on the computer. The 31/2 floppy disk is old school to the computer world, but very new to me. I have placed most of my manuscript on this disk, and I plan to up-grade to a CD disk soon. Being a self-taught writer has allowed me to survive the struggle of learning. Although I have joined blogtalkradio, I am not yet hooked up in a way that I can use and apply the computer functions to enjoy the programs. Last month my sound card went out, so I can't hear nothing. This has not stopped me from getting on the internet and working on my sites. I can't afford the equipment I need, but that's all good though, because I am working the best I can with what I got.
