The New Eridu project is modeled on a real city that existed around 7000 years ago. The genuine greatness of that city was barely recorded in history because it had little to do with the later, politically-motivated desire of local rulers to trace their lineage to the original "city of kings/gods." This greatness came from the wisdom of its founding "god" - Enki - the first "fish" whose caring presence was continued through religious history, traceable in its effects even into our modern churches and synagogues. Eridu fell to the forces of dispersion, and Enki's half-brother (and usurper) plotted to destroy humankind. Enki enabled mankind to survive, a compassionate act of rebellion against selfish tyranny recorded in religion and passed down to us in the form of the story of Noah and the Flood. For his trouble, Enki was banished from the Earth and from the society of his people, but not before he left in us the potential to overcome the disadvantages his people had worked upon us...so the game is still being played, through us, today. The Citizens of New Eridu are tasked to complete the work that Enki began: * To uncover the lies of the Powers That Pretend and unmask their owners, the Deceivers * To free ourselves of the Lies that Enslave and accept the responsibilities of a free people * To learn (and learn to face) the truth of our origins and our place in a very big Universe * To plan the rehabilitation of our people and of the ones that gave us life * To reclaim the gift of the Me that was always intended to be our inheritance and make it our own * To forgive ourselves, the others who did not help us, the false Powers, and even the Deceivers * To take our place among the Civilized Races
