    Xray-mag publisher Peter Symes dropped in Liquid Lounge on January 14, 2009 to discuss XRAY-dio Show

    Peter Symes, publisher of the largest digital adventure magazine in the world, Xray-mag.com, was my guest on the the January 15, 2009 edition of Liquid Lounge on BlogTalkRadio.

    Peter talked about the Underwater Network, an alliance of digital media publishers, and his expansion of Xray-mag to include video, and, of course, audio. We'll debut the Xray-dio Channel on BlogTalkRadio in the Spring. In the meantime, Liquid Lounge will serve as the lead program on the XRAY-dio Channel.

    The Liquid Lounge widget is now located in the Opinion & People section of Xray-mag.com. I'll be working with Peter to expand his video and to add some South Florida content. My first assignment is to develop a Caribbean Cruise section, featuring the itineraries of cruise ships that offer scuba diving as a shore excursion.

    I'll be reporting on the cruise industry in March, when the annual Seatrade Conference celebrates it's 25th anniversary at the Miami Beach Convention Center. More on that later.

    Liquid Lounge Joins Xray-dio Network as the Lead Program on the Xray-dio Channel on BlogTalkRadio.co

    Xray-mag is a digital publication with a focus on the ocean.
     
    Since Liquid Lounge is a an internet radio program with a focus on the ocean, it became apparent that these two examples of new media should work together.

    Today's show will feature an interview with Xray-mag founder and publisher, Peter Symes, who will be Skyping in from his office in Copenhagen to talk about the only digital magazine of it's kind.

    Since it's launch in January 2004, Xray-mag has evolved from a website with scuba diving information into a dynamic adventure travel magazine with a wide range of contributors, archives and a promotional network of like-minded online marketers. Using the Drupal content management system, Peter has been able to mix images and text with targeted banner advertising, to provide a cost-effective way to reach a global audience.

    In  2009, Xray-mag will provide more video, and, of course, audio, using the BlogTalkRadio platform.
     
    Peter will be attending the German dive show in Dusseldorf next week, then Our World Underwater in Chicago, February 3rd. He will be filing reports from each show that will be on the new Xray-dio Channel on BlogTalkRadio.com.

    Everyday is January 1st! Remembering Ray Pelletier

    I did a special tribute show to my friend Ray Pelletier at 11 PM on January 1st. It features a couple of text to speech messages, a song by Elvis Tribute Artist Randy Walker and an excerpt from the Winner's Edge series produced by audio engineer Mick Rizzo, just prior to Ray's death in 2005.

    This segment of the Winner's Edge is with W Mitchell, and serves as a fine example of the work that Ray was trying to produce. Ray's legacy is his family, and friends. The people who saw both sides of the man - the good and the bad - and loved him, nonetheless.

    My friendship with Ray began on delightful tropical night on the Cape Eleuthra golf course in early 1978. It was a business trip. I worked for a hotel company that was entering the timeshare industry. Ray was a salesman trying to sell timeshares to South American investors.

    We met earlier that day at Fort Lauderdale executive airport when we boarded a private DC3 for a tour that would include River Ranch Resort in Yeehaw Junction, Florida, in addition to Cape Eleuthra.

    I will do another January 1st show in the near future, because everyday, as Ray would say, is January 1st., the first day of a new year.
