    Liquid Lounge: Gary Levine's Reef Project near Miami Beach and Richard Stewart's Report on RiverFes

    Liquid Lounge continued is coverage of the International Year of the Reef today, with guests Gary Levine and Richard Stewart reporting on their respective projects.

    Gary has received permission to build a large project in a special reef site near the entrance to the Port of Miami. The barren bottom will be the site of 3000 vertical stacks of reef material that will spell out 'SAVE OUR REEFS' in 25 feet of water. The words will be visible to passenger aboard planes approaching Miami International Airport from the east, and some of them that take off in the that direction.

    Richard Stewart, publisher of Ocean Realm Journal, is also the marketing director of RiverFest an annual event in support of the Marine Discovery Center in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The environmentally-oriented event is on May 3 and May 4 along the intracoastal waterway.

    Liquid Lounge is part of the BlueGreen Network and a supporter of the International Year of the Reef, the State of the Ocean Conference, the EcoArt Gallery by the Sea and other waterside events.

    Pocono Preview: Talking about Pocono Golf and Life in the Poconos

    It was a great show! Andrea Kimes, publisher of www.PoconoTalk.com, a popular blog on Pocono living was the first guest. We talked about the Monroe County Red Cross and the Pocono Marathon, as well as other clients - www.webleaps.com.

    Gail Cortright, the director of golf packages for Golden Travel Guides - www.golfpocono.com - called to talk about several of the golf courses in the Poconos, such as the Country Club of the Poconos, Fernwood, Skytop, Pocono Manor, Glenbrook, Tamiment, WaterGap, Caesar's Pocono Place, Buck Hill, Jack Frost National and Split Rock Resort. We're going to profile specific golf courses over the next few weeks.

    Liquid Lounge: International Year of the Reef and the Eco-Art Gallery by the Sea

    Today's show featured a special Earthday report recorded on April 22 at the Sagamore hotel on Miami Beach. In additional to a fashion show using recycled materials, the Eco-Art Gallery by the Sea was introduced.

    Ben McFerrin, the brand development manager for ECOMB - www.ecomb.org - the Environmental Coalition of Miami Beach, talked about the 204 trash cans that will be the gallery on the beach. Each can features a colorful piece of artwork submitted by artists such as Jacklyn Laflamme who spoke about her art and why she wants to be part of this innovative fundraising activity that will channel sponsor money into an on-going beach clean-up program.

    Others on the show include Myron Lieberman and Michael Gongora, both on the ECOMB board and Nadine Patrice, executive director of Operation Green Leaves - www.oglhaiti.com - an initiative to plant trees in Haiti.

    Gary Levine was on to talk about his newest project - www.miamireef.com - and Captain Ed Buckley - www.stcroixscuba.com - spoke about the island of St. Croix. I met Ed at Ocean Fest on Fort Lauderdale Beach, April 19th.

    Next week, we will talk about the Coral Reef Symposium with Carol Fretwell, who is the volunteer coordinator of the Education Center during the conference in July.

    I resumed the program at that point, then Eddie called in at the 26 minute mark.

    From then on, it was a live conversation about the Carbbean.
