She often fancied they were playmates in heaven that made a promise to meet and discover the familiar all over again in their new skins.
“They” must have skipped away while she went to find the newest rainbow to show André, and he must have enjoyed the sunrays with her. He never seemed quite as impressed when she returned. He was happy to see her nonetheless and marveled at how mere drops of water could merge to create the ribbon of colors, still desiring to touch the warmth of the sunray with her. Her spirit reminded her that while she and André loved to explore and share together, they sought the understanding of the experiences differently. His spirit sought not only to see, but also to touch. He wanted to encounter the senses from the outside in while she gravitated more from the inside out.
When André left suddenly, without notice, she missed him so much that she left the next month to catch him. Maybe he slid down this rainbow, Keilah giggled to herself as she tumbled down.
André landed in Philadelphia to experience life through touch and smell in an unseasonably warm February. Keilah’s aim was too far south and she landed in Maryland to swim through emotional extensions of her senses on the first day of spring. It appeared his other playmate had watched from a far, was less anxious than Keilah, waiting a while longer and took copious notes. She floated down, as light as a feather, confident he would recognize her as soon as Keilah fell asleep, again.
Keilah’s spirit brought back to her a former familiar that made perfect sense in this new present. The connection between André and Keilah, the constant back and forth, and his decision to be indecisive . . . he had to wait until he met “her” again, then he’d know for sure. This physical journey was too complicated to do without his soul mate. He was waiting on “her” while Keilah was content she had found him, resting on the idea that everything would fall into place. She fell asleep once more. Timing was everything.
Oh, Keilah please get your head out of these metaphorical clouds…get real.
For Every Love There Is A Reason
Being the optimistic realist that I am I still believe there is someone for everybody. Yes, in spite of the dismal reports from singles and married people alike, I maintain that people are spiritually predestined to be with certain people. The quandary is to what degree and for how long? Is it still possible to think that certain relationships are for a lifetime, or have they been reduced to seasonal physical excursions that parlay the spiritual and all but negate the emotional aspects of each other; relinquishing to mental chess games until the king is conquered or the queen neutralized?
