The Zero-Tolerance rules adopted by many schools across the country has come under fire in recent months after a series of well-publicized incidents involving the suspension and/or expulsion of otherwise good students for seemingly innocent actions. The infractions triggering the rule varied from a schoolboy's pointing his finger at a fellow student like a gun and pretending to shoot him to a young girl's mother packing a small knife in her lunchbox so that she could cut an apple, to a young man who is accused of flashing a presumed gang hand signal in a photograph taken outside of school hours. All of these young people were suspended or expelled without the benefit of investigation or allowing the students any chance of self-defence. The rule and its draconian punishments is opposed by many educators and parents alike. Recent reports by such organizations as the APA have called into question the efficacy of zero-tolerance. They cite no net improvement in safety or student behavior as a result of aero-tolerance. Join Ken and Beth as they discuss this contentious issue. Ken is against and Beth is for. It looks like a showdown ladies and gentlemen. You won't want to miss it! 9:30PM PDT Thursday 3/13/2014, Beware the Ides-2 of March if you don't show up!!
