In the wake of the recent school shootings and the ensuing knee-jerk legislation proposed by politicians in an attempt to curb the tide of gun violence in this country, we have to stop and ask ourselves a very important question.  Is it realistically possible to control the actions of people who are acting out under the influence of delusions?  Are these people sufficiently unhinged so that there is no way to predict the moment when they will snap and go berserk?  If not then perhaps keeping guns out of their hands is a good thing, but how do you prevent someone who really wants a gun from getting one by one means or other.  By requiring background checks? Perhaps that will catch some of the more egregious cases, but what about the undiagnosed time-bombs out there ticking away until something triggers their inner demons?  If we enact restrictive gun laws will the law-abiding citizens be the only ones who follow it and thus the only people who have guns will be scofflaws and criminals?  Maybe.   Why don 't you join our discussion and let's talk about it.  Call in or join us in the chat room.
