The recent tragic killings of children and teachers at an elementary school in Newtown Connecticut have sparked a national debate over guns, gun violence and mental illness.  In this episode, the first in a multi-part series, explores the facts of the case as we know them.  Over fifteen thousand people are murdered by guns in this country each year.  Only a very small fraction of that number are victims of incidents similar to Newtown.  it seems that these kinds of shootings are happening with alarming frequency, but are they just being more widely reported now than they were in years past?  We'd like to hear your opinion.  Ideally you'll call in, but whether you call in, join us in the chat room or just listen to the stream or podcast we welcome you.
