Literally, vrais amis means true friends, but here we are talking about words that are used the same in English and in French. They are just pronounced differently.
alphabet
animal
barbecue
Bible
bracelet
bravo
champion
confetti
confusion
dessert
dragon
effort
film
gadget
hamster
hockey
invitation
jazz
kiwi
koala
lion
locomotive
machine
marsupial
microphone
These words are all nouns. Sometimes, if the word also exists in another form of speech like as an adjective it may not exist that way in both languages, so be cautious. These words came from http://french.about.com/library/vocab/bl-vraisamis.htm .
Next week, we’ll cover more “vrais amis.” If you enjoy our show, please drop us some feedback so we can cover things we know you’ll like… And if you just want to email us with any comments of suggestions, my address is kellyrobic at hotmail.com. Have a great day!
