MARFA TEXAS MURDER MYSTERY!!!

It begins like a classic horror movie, set in a smalltown inn, miles out in the country. The famous guests mingle, party, hunt, then hits the hay… But the the next morning the most famous and powerful of them fails to make breakfast. In fact, turns out he cashed in his chips during the night.  His 79 year old body lay supposedly undisturbed in his so-called “peaceful death.” So how did his pillow end up covering his face? Not overly pacific passing, perhaps. Maybe we will never know the exact details of his demise since somehow an incompetent county judge named Cinderella Guevara signed an over-the-phone a death certificate, claiming “heart attack,” when no autopsy was even done. Does it get any weirder than that?!! And if he was murdered -- was it the closet-liberal Col, the volatile popstar, the scheming pacifist novelist, or the Marxist professor who rang the neck of the ultra-conservative judge -- in his sleep?

Seriously we have the makings of a constitutional crisis with the death of Antonin Scalia. He represented the most reliable conservative vote of the Supreme Court and his loss leaves, at best, a 4-4 tie on some important upcoming votes. So many votes are caught up in gridlock, with lower courts rulings holding sway. The GOP demands that the vote be set aside until after Obama leaves the WH. But others claim that Obama MUST replace Scalia. Perhaps this void is no accident but is a setup to test the mettle of the GOP candidates and see which one can respond with the most wisdom and resolve.

Now, the one thing most bothersome to your humble essayist: WHY NO AUTOPSY??? If we just put that out there we could have killed the conspiracy talk. But now we will never know what really transpired the night before the day when Supreme Court Justice Scalia did not get up for breakfast.
