I've often said that I think fandom is a good place for writers to practice and learn about themselves as writers. But is there a line when that process becomes a bad thing?

Does fandom give readers unreasonable expectations regarding professional projects? When a reader is used to a 300k word epic--will a 75k professionally published novel seem "too short" to them?

Do fandom readers spoil writers with attention?

I'm gonna talk about this.
