Tuesday is food night.  So, we need to talk about agronomy.  I've been reading a bit about County Extention Offices offering Gardening classes and then require a certain number of "community service hours" back.  Interesting premise, if you ask me.  First, many folks that are seeking this probably don't equate community service hours with government mandates.  Second, I believe it's going to be a great way to document where the gardens are and just who has a food supply.  If I sound paranoid, well, then I do.
I've been making some plans for winter, as usual.  This year, the frost has already affected my garden.  The fried green tomato opportunity has already come and gone, and it isn't even November, yet.  Once it rained, I had a bumper crop of egg plant.  I've spoken with several folks about various fruit crops though.  The peaches and apples all but failed.  The cotton, wheat, and corn failed.  Even pumpkins are a minimal harvest this year.  We've taken so many things for granted so long.  What can we do, here at the end of October?  Join me tonight and let's reason together.
