    SHOW NOTES:

    09/27/09 -

Okay, so I officially suck at getting show notes up on time. And I used to be so good at this too. *sigh* My only excuse I can offer is this mysterious "project" I keep talking about and I promise I'll tell you guys about it just as soon as possible. Right now it's still highly hush-hush though, soooo... shhhh!

If you missed out tonight, you missed an awesome salute to one of the roots of classic rock- Folk Music. Here's what we chatted about:

    THE TUNES:
"Our House" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
"No Expectations" cover by Joan Baez
    "American Pie" by Don McLean
"First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" cover by Johnny Cash

    KAY'S CLASSIC ROCK NEWS:
    - Giants Stadium is a busy, busy place. Between Bono and his U2 lads blowing in to town and Bruce Springsteen playing 5 "last concerts"... and, oh yeah! Mayor Bloomberg parking his private helicopter in the parking lot, Rutherford has been a fun place to be lately.
    - Speaking of The Boss, a bunch of people got together this weekend to be philosophical about his songs. Like, REALLY philosophical. A Springsteen Symposium, in fact. ... yeeeeeah...
    - We checked in with Mr. Phil Spector who is currently climbing the walls (of sound) in his jail cell. Evidently, insects are treated better than he is...? Or something?
    - David Crosby is sick, therefor CS&N are going to have to reschedule nearly 10 days-worth of gigs. Ooops.

    ABI'S CLASSIC ROCK NEWS:
    - Speaking of getting sick, AC/DC is also rescheduling some shows due to illness. Is anyone else smelling a theme around here...?
    - Aerosmith's members are being creative in their sudden wealth of free time... Joe Perry is considering running for office (???) and Brad Whitford is racing wiener dogs... err, Volvos.
    - Seriously, there's a BOAT load of KISS news and we ran down as much of it as humanly possible. KISS has finally been nominated for induction in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Gene and Paul are shooting their mouths off! KISS has "Sonic Moobs"! Great stuff. Great stuff.
    - The Metropolitan Museum of Art will be screening the rarely seen Robert Frank Rolling Stones documentary, "Cocksucker Blues".

    BIRTHDAYS THAT ROCK:
    - Don McLean

    UNDER THE COVERS:
    - Abi played one of the myriad of cover versions of "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." Johnny Cash gave us this one.

** I also paused to send out a special goodbye to Mary Travers of Peter, Paul and Mary who sadly passed away back on September 16th. **

And that was it from our land of Folksy Classic Rock! Don't miss next week as we spend an entire episode saluting the amazing JOHN LENNON on the week of what would have been his 69th birthday.

    Til Next Week Kiddos,
    Kay
