Women and Sexuality- A Path to a Healthier Culture
Everywhere we turn there are images of beautiful, sexy vibrant women. Look at any magazine cover, turn on your television set or even hop online to your home page. Women exuding sexuality are EVERYWHERE. So why then is one of main causes of divorce sex? Why is it that approximately %35 of women, in conservative polls, say they wouldn’t care if they never had sex again and that it is really hard to get in the mood?
It is easy to assume that raising children, working full time jobs (whether in the home or not), financial stress all play major roles in this. And certainly, there is truth to that for many people. However, give a woman $1000.00 to spend on her self, prescribe a weekly massage, or a hot bubble bath and see how much easier it is to get her to do that. The secret behind this is that it feels like it is something for them, and for them only.
The sad truth is that millions of women feel that sex is just another thing to check of on their to-do list in the lengthy line of responsibilities they feel bogged down with. It is something they “do”, not something they experience. Somewhere along the way that sexy woman on the inside decided to take and nap- in a long, frumpy, terry cloth night gown.
What is so deeply misunderstood is that sexuality is not about looking like a model, being there to only please your partner, not having a fat role become too obvious, or a do it and get it over with kind of job.
Sexuality is an innate part of who we are. Sex is a place where our spirit can connect us to a higher place, a place where our creativity and sense of self is free. This is a place of self expression at its most vulnerable state, where we are truly merging with another person. And not only that, but sex drastically reduces stress because of the hormones released during orgasm. The hormones released also allow us to feel more connected to the person we share this orgasm with as well. There are biological, spiritual and emotional reasons for these feelings of euphoria and connectedness.
If you are a woman who has fallen into the rut there are many things you can do to ignite your spark again. One thing that can really help is to not buy those trashy magazines that tell you all about how to please him, what the best positions are or the ones that suggest that you need to look like a Barbie for you to enjoy sex and for your partner to want you.
The biggest problems with these approaches are because in part they are lies. And when it comes down to the Truth, you need to learn about what makes YOU feel sexy. What makes YOU enjoy sex. And in discovering that, we learn more about the experience of it all instead of the act of it all. The act of sex is fine, but that is not where sexuality and fulfillment live.
Sexuality and fulfillment live in the experience of our sexual acts. To experience what we are dong we need to be conscious. Experiencing means to be alive to what everything feels like, having your senses fully awake. Being conscious of what feels good and what doesn’t. What we like and what we don’t like. What we like to give and what we like to receive. Being in the conscious and in the moment also means that we are not in our heads wondering if that stupid fat roll just made its big debut.
Here are some tips to get your sexual and sensual side revved up:
In our world today we are over stimulated with sex without meaning. We have left the importance of a healthy sexual appetite behind and replaced it with the need to work, raise our children and be all that we feel we are supposed to be. In truth, it is really traumatic for our soul to be cut off from the everyday sensual experiences that have the ability to ignite the passion that it craves. When we stop seeing sex as a chore and accept that we are sexual creatures we will begin to create a more healthy culture that views thriving sexuality as a pure and powerful place for us to reach new levels in fulfillment.

In Today’s Economy When You Feel There Is No Where To Turn- TURN HERE
We are all being bombarded with scary economic messages and bleak scenarios. There is no doubt that many people are facing their biggest fears. The fear of financial insecurity, home foreclosure and job loss are all common symptoms of the current state of our world.
Sadly, the ten ton weight that has set up camp on our shoulders has likely impacted our relationships and thrown our zest for life out the window. We feel the darkness of constant impending doom.
What would you give to make that feeling go away? Like most of us, I’m sure you’d give a lot to rid yourself of those feelings. The good news is that you don’t have to give much at all. The truth is, you that you don’t have to live in fear – no matter what the media tells you.
What is happening in the world right now has thrown us into what I call “Collective Survival Mode.” Survival mode implies that we are having a physiological reaction. Here’s a glimpse of what that looks like:
A lion is chasing you. Your adrenalin is pulsing through your veins to keep you alive. Your heart is racing, your breathing is fast and shallow. You have little energy and little blood going to the vital organs in your body. You are fully focused on staying alive and staying alive only, which means you pay no attention to anything else.
What’s different in Collective Survival Mode versus the scenario above is that the lion is chasing all of us – our friends, neighbors, co-workers. We are all experiencing survival mode at the same time.
Enter, insomnia, anxiety and addictions – en masse. But that’s just the beginning. After sustaining survival mode, or what is commonly called the “fight or flight response,” for any length of time, heart disease, heart attacks, strokes and a depressed immune system ensue.
With such a substantial impact on our collective health and so many cards stacked against us, how can we expect the world or our own lives to come out of this whole?
To pull out of the economic state we are in, not to mention all the other external issues facing society today, we need healthy, clear-thinking, thriving people. And I want you to be one of them – and I want you to start today.
Here’s how you can begin to heal yourself and the world around you:
HEALTHY BEHAVIORS TO HEAL AN UNHEALTHY WORLD
· Ask yourself what you are really afraid of? Get to the root of your fear.
· Ask yourself what your worst-case scenarios look like and what would you do if they really happened? Would they kill you? What’s the reality? (Remember, feelings can’t kill us even if it feels like they could).
· Begin a mindfulness practice. This can be a walking meditation, listening to your breath or even going to the gym to blow off steam.
· Take a yoga class. Notice how you feel before and after.
· Keep a journal of everything you are going through.
· Do something everyday that makes you feel happy. Don’t underestimate the power of play.
· Find a group of supportive people who refuse to sit around and talk about how difficult life is. Meet with them once each week to talk about what you are doing to stay positive.
In picking just one or two healthy behaviors and working them into your life, you will decrease your heart rate, normalize your blood pressure, reduce stress hormones and strengthen your immune system. This creates a foundation that will not only give you a good night’s sleep and physical health, but will also give you your vitality back. You will have more energy and patience because you have slowed down enough to reconnect yourself to your body and your life. Negative thoughts that used to eat up much of your day will roll off your back. You will have more energy for your family and hobbies, and your relationships will flourish again.
If enough of us do this together, we will have the collective clarity to affect change in the world. We will be out of survival mode and into thrive mode. The trick is for each of us to focus on the internal rather than the external, knowing that we will all benefit from the synergistic effect.
But whether we take this on together or not, one of the most important things to remember is that no matter what happens on the outside, if you are not your best self on the inside you will never really obtain the true happiness that is available to you. That is true in good times too.
At some point, we will all be the phoenix rising from the ashes. Don’t you want to be ready to fly?

The Only New Year’s Resolution You’ll Ever Need To Make
A guide to staying on track with this year’s promises to yourself
It’s that time of year again. The time when we review what we want to change about ourselves or our lives. We make pacts and promises to all who will listen: “I’m going to lose weight,” “I’m going to quit smoking,” “I going to the gym everyday.” We jump on our band wagon of new hopes and dreams and move full speed ahead
Now it’s a week or month later we find ourselves sitting with the two by four that we regularly use to beat ourselves over our heads for not having stuck with our goal AGAIN. And we have an audience. All those we people we so proudly shared our goal with and who we asked to check up on us are now nodding their heads with full understanding because they too have been there before.
The fact is that most of us are not able to make such life changes simply because it’s a new day in a new year. Using this notion as the impetus to reshape of our life is a faulty foundation for change. That’s because without a deep and real internal shift, creating big life changes is an uphill battle and nothing else. Resolving to make a significant internal shift will allow you to change any part of your life.
But how do you make an internal shift?
Growing the desire to change is the first step in the journey. This is the easy part because lots of us have oodles of desire at this time of year. Unfortunately, there isn’t much meaning behind it. True desire capable of creating lasting change requires clear motivation. It’s critical that we understand our why – what is driving us and where it comes from. Are you going to the gym because a family member wants you to? Be clear with yourself about not only what you desire, but why you want what you want.
Once you understand your motivation, begin to look at the areas in your life that are working against your desire. I call these your “trigger points.” Too many unexplored trigger points create the space and opportunity for your goal to be left unachieved. Avoiding trigger points requires that you get clear about what happens to you in a trigger point moment. For example, “I have a hard time avoiding junk food in the afternoon.” Look at what is going on in your life around those times of the day. Observe yourself: How do you feel physically? What are you thinking? How do you feel emotionally? Next, determine how you will fill the hole: What can you do that will support your desired new life? What thoughts are most supportive of your goal?
While you are working hard to change aspects of your life, feelings may arise that are painful, difficult or confusing. It’s important to have someone you can turn to in these times. Establish your support team ahead of time and let them know you’ll be calling on them when you need them.
One of the best ways to reach a goal is to create an accountability notebook. A place where you can mark and track your progress. Write down why your new way of life feels good, what you are getting from it and what is working. Be sure to boast about all that you are doing to reach your goal. Also, write about the times you feel like jumping off a cliff. The key is to write about it all – the whole journey. To bring consciousness to all the phases of change, from identifying and growing your desire to following your action plan and overcoming obstacles along the way.
Clearly, making a New Year’s resolution that sticks requires a lot of time, effort, self-esteem, as well as deep introspection – more than most of us give to the process. It is essential that you be the happiest, healthiest you in this lifetime. Honor your Self, take the change process seriously without taking yourself too seriously. Know that going within is the only way to truly create the long-term and deeply gratifying change you seek. When you build your support team, but be sure that you are the first person on your list.
You have value, you are a priority and you deserve to live life to the fullest.
