Going Green…..

The July issue of Ebony magazine features an article on the realities of Going Green.  This is a trendy new term which refers to caring for the Earth and choosing to live more consciously. 

Author Shirley Henderson profiles 4 new “eco-warriors” who have decided to transform their lives by making their world a cleaner and greener place.

        Majora Carter – created a $3 million dollar park where commercial waste once stood in the South Bronx.

        Van Jones – worked with lawmakers to pass the Green Jobs Act of 2007 which could authorize $125 million dollars in funding to train people for green-collar jobs.

        Kerry Washington- This actress/activist uses biodegradable products and suggests switching to energy efficient light bulbs and buying organic fruits. She says small changes can help in a huge way but advocates that each person do what is doable for them to make a difference.

        Mario Van Peebles- hosts anew reality show called “Mario’s Green House” scheduled to begin airing in 2009 and drives a hybrid car.  He admits that he has tricked out the hybrid a bit so he can still show up to a movie premiere in style. 

These are just 4 individuals who are trying to make a difference by making small changes for the betterment of their environment.

As I researched this new movement, the Holy Spirit brought to my attention the idea of Going Green – Spiritually…making small changes in our spiritual lives for the betterment of the Kingdom of Heaven.

What changes can you make in your life that will lead to a cleaner spiritual life?

Joshua 1:6 (AMP) reminds us of a commandment given to Joshua after Moses’ death…”be confident and of good courage for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them”.  This illustration shows us something God wants us all to do so that He may bless us.  Be strong, confident and be encouraged—In all you do, remember this!
