    The Obama Inauguration

This past Tuesday I traveled to DC and took part in of the most historic moments of my life.  In 1995, I traveled to DC to take part in the historic Million Man March.  These are 2 very different events but both of them changed my life in profound ways.  I never thought I would see the day that America would elect a Black man to the highest office in the land.  Not only did America elect a Black man but Barack Obama is an extraordinary individual and for the next four years young Black men have a role model who is highly visible and someone who they can look to for an example of leadership and how to carry themselves as Black men in America.  Being at this event is something that I will never forget.  Watching President Obama be sworn in and reading about the postive effect his stature has had on young Black boys is proof that the images and the examples that young people have around them plays a huge role in their self esteem and confidence.
