TAKE 2-Second interview with two time DockDogs Hall Of Famer Kristi Baird from Gig Harbor, Washington has been teaching dogs to fly in the sport of dock diving since 2004. Along with her team of labradors she has earned 14 World Championship Invitations, held both the x-treme Vertical and X-streme Airdogs national records with the Northwest Challenge Outdoor Adventure Series, and earned a long list of awards and accolades for her successes and contributions to the sport of dock diving throughout the country.
In 2008 Kristi adopted a 14 month old rescued chocolate labrador named Buddy with no obedience or social training to speak of. After just 5 months of conditioning, drive building, and training, the team went on to earn the spot of top ranked Chocolate Lab in the World and the 2008 DockDogs National Super Elite Championship.
Kristi is a firm proponent of proper nutrition for dogs, a graduated conditioning regiment, and conservative training programs for the canine athlete. Training smarter, not harder, can prolong a dog’s involvement in canine sports and prevent injuries that may lead to early retirement.
