    Unconditional Love

There are so many teens and young adults that are emotionally closed off to the world. They have been hurt and disappointed by mean people or even well meaning family and friends that just don't know what to do about and for them.

I am raising a teen and a pre-teen right now and I will tell you it is not easy. I have learned from my mistakes that love, communication and understanding are the best ways to combat these hurt  feelings.

I try to get on their level getting to know their friends and talking openly and not judging too much. My kids and I talk about sex, friends, school problems and drugs. I want to be their parent but their friend as well because now days friends are hard to come. I want them to know I am on their side and fairly give them advice when they ask me.

I have found that you can't go at parenting with the attitude that I will love you if you clean your room or do what I ask or act a certain way. I love those kids unconditionally and make sure they know it.

Music for today is by Acid Bath "Venus Blue" try new music it broadens the mind.

Is making big bucks worth the price you pay?

Lots of people focus on what is missing in their lives; the things they don't have. What is wrong
with what they already have? Do you have a roof over your head? Enough to eat? Are you grateful
for the blessings you have already have? Do you really need that bigger house or that new car?
    Think about it?

In the small community of SouthWest, Va and NorthEast, Tn we have to think to ourselves; What
is more important: Staying close to family in a neighborhood that is a great place to raise children or
Move to a big city to live what the world sees as the "American Dream".

My husband and I chose to reexamine what we truly need. Do we need jobs far away to have an expensive car and a large home? Or can we make it here? Making sacrifices to ensure our children have childhoods like we did, with no worries of gangs, or drugs. Where doors are unlocked and neighbors watch and care about each other. Where you know your grocerer and pharmasist.

I have to say I am grateful for the blue sky and trees outside my window. For my family and friends who love me. What do you have to be thankful for? I am thankful that the AT trail and the creeper trail
is within walking distance from my house and the Jefferson National forest is my backyard. I am thankful for my three sons that I am so proud of.

The music for today is by The Wind by Amos Lee, it is worth the listen and points out that fate can change your life so quickly, savor the good times they will get your through the hard times. Hug someone you love.

    Morning Musing April 9

What kind of day will this be? A memorable one or just ordinary. Does it matter? The ordinary days make the world go around. But what possiblities each day holds! It is important to keep that wonder and anticipation that comes with each sunrise. I think I will go see my momma, maybe go treasure hunting, maybe do something fun. My inspirational music for today is Joshua Kadison."Paris"  Check it out here http://www.myspace.com/joshuakadison It is about unlikly friends. I think I will try to make a new friend today, while visiting old ones.
Relationships can make or break you...the more possitive relationships the better the world will be. One friendly smile at a time. There is no excuse for lonely when there are so many potential friends out there to be had just waiting for you to smile.
Make a difference in someone's life. There are so many elderly people in this world that are lonely and that is a shame because they can be a wealth of wisdom and comfort. Now go out there your new friend is waiting for you!
