Listening is Good Business

Since succcess in business is ultimately based on the number of "battles" you win, it is imperative to acquire effective weapons to use on your business battlefield.  The ability to listen is one of your most powerful weapons.

We can listen at a rate of 800 words per minute, but most people only talk at about 180 words per minute.  Some have gusts of up to 220 or 250.  Since they aren't talking as fast as we can listen, our minds sometimes go off by themselves to think about other things, especially if the other person is long-winded or boring.

Think of how many times a day you utilise listening skills.  Business meetings, interaction with customers, transactions with suppliers, casual conversations with colleagues, as well as meaningful conversations with loved ones.
