Angie Stone and the American Diabetes Assocation (ADA) talk about the Diabetes epidemic and what we can do about it. ***SPECIAL GUEST:Angie Stone: singer, songwriter, national and international star. Her last album, The Art Of Love & War, peaked at No. 11 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart selling 45,000 copies in its first week, becoming Stone's highest-charting album to date. Physically, Angie is doing well too. About eight years ago, she was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Currently, she serves as the spokesperson for Eli Lilly for its F.A.C.E. Campaign. Fearless African-Americans Connected and Empowered launched in Chicago last Fall at Salem Baptist Church. Through a series of practical and sustainable programs in local communities, the campaign's goal is to help foster behavioral and attitudinal changes in areas critical to success in managing diabetes such as nutrition/cooking, physical activity, F.A.C.E (Fearless African Americans Connected and Empowered)Diabetes program, www.face-diabetes.com. ***SPECIAL GUEST:Neva White, representing the American Diabetes Association. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree from Holy Family College, Masters degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Post Master’s degree as an Adult Health Nurse Practitioner from Temple University. Mrs. White is a Certified Diabetes Educator and is currently the Regional Director for Community Health at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
