    First Blog Post

This is my first official blog post on BlogTalkRadio.com. Hopefully I don't sound like too much of an idiot when it's all said and done.

Being that I'm a sports talk show host on BTR, one would assume my first post would be sports related, right? Wrong. I actually want to reference the history that was made today. I'm talking about the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States of America, Mr. Barack Obama.

An event like this is historic not only because of the possible ramifications of the dissolution of racial inequality made possible the efforts of those like Martin Luther King, Jr., Thurgood Marshall, Medgar Evars and others, but the hope for the reunification of a nation. Obama's goal is to bring a country that is easily divided by race, class, and political views and bring it together to make it better.

It is no secret that our country has faced a tumultous recent history, and times appear to be as difficult, if not more, than those that preceded them. But I believe the right man is in place at the right time to help steer America through these rough waters, and then guide us to our destination of again being the beacon of freedom, democracy and capitalism in the free world.

I will make a shameless attempt to combine sports and politics here, and don't laugh at me too bad, but I've found an eerie parallel between my personal history and today's events: Barack Obama is our 44th president. My baseball jersey number during my senior year of high school? 44. Wow...
