On January 5, 2011, Beth and I interviewed gifted author Michele Howe on the intrinsic value of transforming life’s challenges into triumphs. Among other pearls of wisdom, Michele shared the following five principles: (1) Women should be comrades not competitors. (2) We should look to other women for inspiration and know that if they can come through their struggles victorious, so can we. (3) Whatever we learn from our own challenges equips us to support others. (4) We need to have the courage to go through uncomfortable situations with grace, staying tender even after we’ve been hurt. (5) We need to be “other minded” and look at the big picture as we go through difficult times.Michele also emphasized the importance of overcoming fear, reaching out to other women when we need help, and not allowing our pride to get in the way…of anything.Michele’s Coaching Suggestions 1. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. 2. Stay tender in a tough world. It takes more courage to be tender than it does to get tough. 3. Do the next appropriate thing … even if you’re afraid.Michele’s Quote for the Day“Freedom is an inside job.” ~Sam KeenDiscover more inspiring interviews at www.WomenFindPurpose.com.
