In 1998 Joni took a weekend workshop to learn the Ishaya Monks ancient ascension meditation techniques. These simple, yet very powerful meditation techniques still the mind, heal the nervous system, and expand one's consciousness. Joni has been sponsoring the Ishaya's weekend workshops for the last 11 years. Ishaya monks and "ascender's" are encouraged to call in and share their personal testimonials. Joni's guest Sindhuma Ishaya shares her personal testimony: "What is the deepest wish of your heart? Endless peace? Eternal joy? Some of us believe you get brownie points for suffering. Others of you out there suspect that we are supposed to be happy, playful, and full of peace. I’m an Ishaya monk, and that’s been my experience for almost 13 years. There is a particular group of Ishaya's (http://www.TheBrightPath.com) who have found amazing magic in choosing to be joyful all the time, taking nothing seriously (which makes you grumpy), accepting the gifts of the universe. These people live in the 'real world,' doing everything normal people do, but they experience joy in every moment. Beliefs change, but the bliss of knowing the Stillness within can be permanent. It makes the experience of enlightenment real, not just an intellectual concept. I have experienced this group of around 200 Bright Path teachers become not only more focused as the years progress, but more playful, loving and light. Waking up was never meant to be hard; being a servant to your mind is infinitely more difficult and painful. Melting into the Stillness within, in a timeless moment of bliss, is our birthright. It’s super easy because it’s our natural state. Our simple techniques based on praise, gratitude and love are usable eyes open or closed as you go about your day. Step into the Stillness that is your true nature. You hold the power to transform your life, regardless of any belief. Come and experience the Path of Joy."
