"He was out doing his job in the early-morning hours, in the city, [in] a very dangerous situation, and ... put his life on the line, and tragically has lost his life doing his job," Chief Bill Blair told reporters. Whenever we read about brave and selfless professional law enforcement officers who, in relative obscurity die in the line of duty keeping us safe, we cannot help but feel a collective sense of sadness for a life lost too soon.
