"Of course, he carried it a bit too far. He thought that every windmill was a giant. That's insane. But, thinking that they might be... Well, all the best minds used to think the world was flat. But, what if it isn't? It might be round. And bread mold might be medicine. If we never looked at things and thought of what they might be, why, we'd all still be out there in the tall grass with the apes." While the 1971 movie starring George C. Scott and Joanne Woodward from which the above excerpt has been taken reflects a Don Quixote sentiment, the reference to looking at things and thinking of what they "might be," is the starting point for entrepreneurial success. Being able to take positive and effective action on one's vision represents the difference between the "what could have been" axiom and the realization of one's true potential. According to the new "Meet The Giants" web site's founders, "by surrounding ourselves with people who have already been there and done it we realize that just about every entrepreneurial success story in existence is littered with tales of self-doubt, insurmountable obstacles, fear and adverse circumstances. Imagine having dinner with over 100 of the world’s top entrepreneurs and tap into the way they think and act, find out about the strategies they have used and continue to use to achieve the success they enjoy and extract that wisdom and knowledge into your own One Page Giant’s Masterplan." "There is" the Meet The Giants contend, "nowhere else on earth that you can stand on the shoulders of giants every week of the year without paying huge sums of money." Meet The Giants has created such a venue, making knowledge and insight accessible to all. In the spirit of our "Knowledge Is Power" interview series, I am pleased to welcome Giant facilitator Hilde Makkinje to discuss the "vision" behind her own organization.
